Regulatory Support

Someone keeping track of the rules, so you do not have to

Food regulations in India change constantly. Notifications, amendments, advisories, direction orders. Most of them will not affect you. A few of them will affect you a great deal, and those are easy to miss when you are running a business.

We follow the changes and tell you the ones that matter to your products, in plain language, with what you need to do about them.

What this covers

The full range of food regulation, not one corner of it

Labelling and display

Amendments to labelling rules, front of pack requirements, format changes, and what they mean for artwork you already have in circulation.

Product standards

Category standards, permitted additives, limits, and the rules that decide what your product legally is.

Organic

Certification requirements, the Jaivik Bharat mark, and what you can and cannot say about an organic product. Organic is one part of the regulatory picture, not a separate world.

Imports and exports

Clearance requirements, importer obligations, labelling on arrival, and the documentation that goes with it.

Health and nutrition claims

What is permitted, what conditions attach, and what evidence you need to hold before making a claim.

New notifications

FSSAI issues notifications, advisories and direction orders regularly. We read them so you do not have to, and we tell you when one applies to you.

How it works

What working with us looks like month to month

  1. 1

    We track what changes

Notifications, amendments and advisories relevant to your product categories.

  2. 2

    You get told what applies

Not a newsletter of everything. A note about the ones that affect you, and what to do.

  3. 3

    Questions get answered

When something comes up during the month, you ask and get a straight answer rather than opening a new engagement each time.

  4. 4

    Reviews as needed

Label checks, document reviews and small pieces of work included within an agreed scope.

  5. 5

    A regular check in

A call to go through anything open and anything coming.

Who this suits

Brands with products in the market

Once your packaging is printed and your product is on shelves, a rule change becomes an operational problem rather than a design question. Knowing early is what keeps it small.

Businesses without a compliance person

Most food businesses under a certain size do not have anyone whose job is regulation. This fills that gap without a full time hire.

Businesses in more than one category

The more categories you sell into, the more rules apply to you, and the more likely it is that one changes without you noticing.

Common questions

Is this a monthly arrangement?

It can be either. Regulation is ongoing, so a monthly arrangement suits most businesses, but some pieces of work are better handled one off. Tell us what you make and where you sell it, and we will put together a proposal that fits the project.

What if nothing changes in a given month?

Then you hear from us that nothing changed, and you use the time for questions or reviews instead. Quiet months happen and they are not wasted.

Is a State FSSAI licence different from a Central one?

The rules are the same either way. FSSAI sets food safety standards under the Food Safety and Standards Act and they apply across India, so there is no separate set of state rules to comply with. What changes is which authority you deal with. Smaller operations hold a State licence issued through the state food safety department, while larger operations and importers hold a Central licence from FSSAI. Inspections are carried out by state food safety officers in both cases, and we work with both.

We already have a consultant for licensing. Can we still use this?

Yes. Staying current is a different job from getting licensed, so the two sit alongside each other. It is still worth checking what your licence actually covers. We do not simply file an application. We establish what your product legally is and licence it under the correct product category, because a wrong or incomplete category tends to surface during an inspection rather than at the application stage.

How is this different from just reading FSSAI updates online?

The notifications are public. Working out which of them apply to your specific products, and what to actually do, is the part that takes time and experience.
